Maternal CMV
– Most are asymptomatic.
– Fetus is at risk if first outbreak occurs in pregnancy.
– Most dangerous in 1st trimester.

Clinical Manifestations
- Flu-like symptoms
- Extreme fatigue
- Swollen glands
- Generalized body aches
Congenital CMV infection

This syndrome is present in 5% of infected infants:
Chorioretinitis
Microcephalia
Mental and motor retardation
Deafness
Periventricular calcifications
Seizures
